Congratulations Bethel Elementary!
Bethel Elementary was recognized at the Safe and Healthy Kids Banquet recently. Our school was selected as the 2013 Elementary Healthy School of the Year in Greenville County!  We received a large banner that will be displayed in our school and a monetary award of $1,250. These funds will be spent on special projects related to health, fitness, and wellness. This award was sponsored by LiveWell Greenville.  We also received the 2013 Safe Kids School Award for our efforts related to safety, and a Gold Award as a Fit-Friendly Worksite.  We are extremely proud of the efforts of our students, staff, and parents in making healthier decisions at Bethel.  We continue to enjoy the new culinary menu, and we have embraced new ways to incorporate wellness throughout the school day. Thank you for your support!

Silent Auction Update
As you may have heard, our PTA was planning to have our first ever raffle as part of our silent auction on May 17th. Due to news reports last week in the media regarding raffles being illegal in SC, the Bethel PTA has decided to end their plans for raffles at this time, and we will return to our previous practice of all items being sold through a silent auction.  It's important for the PTA and school administration to follow all state laws when it comes to fundraising. If raffles become legalized in our state at some point, this can be revisited for the future. We hope you plan to attend the upcoming Bethel Bash and Silent Auction on Friday, May 17th from 4:00-8:00 pm.  Thank you for supporting Bethel Elementary!

Our next Spirit Night will be Tuesday, May 7th, at the Chick-fil-A on Woodruff Road from 5:00-8:00 pm. Take a night off from cooking, and join us for this event. Be sure to mention Bethel when ordering. As always, thank you for supporting Bethel!

Bethel Bash
The Bethel Bash is coming up on May 17th from 4:00-8:00 pm! We still need donations of hair paint, silly string, and confetti eggs. There will be a prize for the class that has the most donations of eggs! Also, we still need volunteers the day of the carnival to help with set-up, selling tickets, selling concessions, running carnival games and rides, and much more. Please email Lori Flaherty at loriyflaherty@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer. For safety reasons, children will not be allowed to play on the playground equipment during Bethel Bash.

Bethel Bash T-Shirts
Get your one of a kind Bethel Bash T-shirt this year! Order forms are coming home with your student today (April 26th). One of our students created the winning design being used on the t-shirt. Congratulations to first grader, Julisa, on being our t-shirt designer this year. The shirt color is lime green. Shirts are $10 and order forms need to be returned by May 10th.
