Congratulations!
Congratulations to the following Bethel students who have been selected to participate in the South Carolina Elementary Honors Choir – Carly Winans, Arissa Mendez-Ramirez, and Hayley Glenn.  The South Carolina Elementary Honors Choir is a state-wide auditioned choir for elementary students.  A total of 465  students from around the state auditioned, and only 232 of those were selected. The students chosen to participate in the Elementary Honors Choir will rehearse and perform at the SC Music Educators conference in Charleston in February 2014.

ITBS - Grade 2 Testing
The Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS) is a nationally standardized test which measures students’ performance in reading and mathematics. The ITBS will be administered to students in Grade 2 on Monday and Tuesday, November 11-12. The ITBS is an untimed test, but should take approximately one hour per day.
Please assist us by encouraging your child to perform to the best of his or her ability. For more information about testing or your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher.

Would you like a chance to win a Sportsclub membership?
We have reached 70% for PTA memberships, and our goal is to have 100%! Bethel is known to have a very strong PTA, but we can only do that with your support! Every person that joins the PTA from now until December 9th will be entered in a drawing to win a 3- month couples membership to the Sportsclub (valued at $417). PTA memberships are $5.00 each. You can join as many times as you like to better your chances of winning. Family members such as aunts, uncles and grandparents can join also. The PTA membership form is on the website, or you can just send in $5.00 with your child’s name and teacher’s name labeled “PTA Membership.”

Spirit Wear
Bethel spirit wear is now available for preorder and comes in the following styles: short sleeve, long sleeve, and crew neck sweatshirts. These make great holiday gifts for any Bethel student! The deadline for ordering is November 15th. All orders will be received before Winter Break. Please make checks payable to Bethel Elementary PTA. For questions, contact Kristi Nelson at kristi12nelson@me.com

Bethel Bash
It’s not too early to start preparing for the Bethel Bash! This time of year a lot of stores have hair paint and silly string. These things are often discounted after Halloween, so it’s a great time to start sending these in for the Bethel Bash. These can be sent in anytime to the PTA room. You can also begin sending in egg shells for confetti eggs. We will be having a contest from now until the Bash for the class that sends in the most eggs. Just send in your cartons of empty egg shells to the PTA room and put the teacher’s name on the outside of the carton. Empty the egg shells by tapping the end of the eggshell with a knife or cracking a small hole in the top and then emptying the egg out when you use it. Be sure to rinse your eggs and let them dry before sending them into school. The confetti egg booth is one of our most profitable and popular booths at the Bash!! Thank you for your support!

The second spirit night will be on Thursday, November 14th at Firehouse Subs on Woodruff Rd from 4:00-10:00 pm. Please make sure to mention you are with Bethel when ordering. Bethel will receive 20% of all sales from 5:00-8:00 pm. Thank you for supporting Bethel!

Box Tops
Keep clipping those Box Tops!! Please tell your family, friends and neighbors to keep clipping to help raise money for Bethel! The next deadline for turn in will be December 20th. The class that turns in the most Box Tops will win a prize! Send in clipped Box Tops in a Ziploc bag with your child’s name and teacher’s name.
