Congratulations to Carly Winans, a fourth grader at Bethel.  She has been selected as a finalist for the Best Singer in the District contest for Greenville County Schools!  Carly will compete with other elementary, middle, and high school students in an effort to be named the Best Singer in the District.  The event will be held at 6:30 on March 15 at Greenville High School, and tickets are $12 each.  Good luck, Carly!

Upcoming Tests
During the month of March, students in grade 1-5 will take spring MAP testing.  Your child’s teacher will let you know the exact testing dates for the reading and math portions of the test.  Also, students in grades 3-5 will take the Writing portion of the PASS test March 19th-20th.  Please be sure your child gets ample sleep before testing, and encourage them to do their best on these assessments. Thank you for your continued support!

Multiage Application Process 2013-2014
We will accept multiage applications March 4th–22nd. You may pick up an application in the front office. Our Primary Multiage consists of 1st/2nd graders, and Intermediate Multiage is 3rd/4th graders. We will have open spaces in all four of these grade levels. A structured lottery will be used to select students for multiage. Parents will be notified of selection results in April. Please click HERE for a flyer about our multiage program.

Extended Day Registration 2013-2014
We will accept new Extended Day (after school) registrations March 4th -22nd. Depending on the number of registrations, we may have a lottery from the registrations collected during this time period to determine which students will receive a spot in the program for next year. Space is limited! The registration fee is $40 per family. Forms are available at www.greenville.k12.sc.us/bethel or in the front office. If you have any questions, contact our director, Janice Broyles, at 355-4167.

Fundraiser
Fifth grade Jr. Beta Club students are sponsoring a fundraiser for our local Muscular Dystrophy Association the week of March 11.  The money raised will be used to help send a local child to summer camp.  They will be selling Shamrocks in the main hallway each morning from 7:30-7:55 beginning March 11 for $1.00. Please consider supporting this wonderful cause.

Immunizations
Beginning with the 2013-14 school year, all children entering seventh grade must have received a dose of Tdap vaccine to protect them from pertussis (whooping cough).  Parents do not have to wait until their child enters the seventh grade as children as young as seven years old can be vaccinated.  Parents will need to provide their child's school with a South Carolina Certificate of Immunization showing that their child received this newly required Tdap vaccine. Please don't wait - avoid the rush by making an appointment with your child's healthcare provider to get the required Tdap vaccine and other vaccines recommended for your child's protection.

Do you have a Facebook page?  If so, please "Like" Greenville County Schools from your computer or smart phone.  You'll get up-to-the-minute news and the latest events from Greenville County Schools.

Bethel Bash
Mark your calendars now for the Bethel Bash!  It will be May 17th from 4:00-8:00 PM. Please remember to send in your egg shells for the confetti eggs. A flyer went home in Friday folders a few weeks ago and extra copies are available in the front office.  Remember to write your child’s name and teacher on the egg carton before sending them to the PTA room. We also continue to accept donations of silly string and hair paint.Click HERE for a confetti egg DIY.

The Bethel Bash is one of the most fun events for our students as well as our volunteers! We need volunteers the day of May 17th to help with set-up, selling tickets, selling concessions, running carnival games and rides, and much more.  Please plan to help out and join the fun!  Let us know if you're interested by emailing Lori Flaherty at loriyflaherty@gmail.com.  You will be contacted as it gets closer to the date.

Information has been sent to parents regarding items that are needed for the grade level themed baskets that will be raffled at the Silent Auction. All donated items should be sent in by April 12. If you have questions, please call Joni Puckett at 270-3303 or email her at jonipuckett@charter.net.
