Winter Break

Wednesday, January 2nd
Students and Staff Return to School

Thank You to PTA
We want to thank all the wonderful PTA volunteers who made the Gingerbread Shop such a success!  Our students were so proud to take home gifts for family and friends.  Many volunteers worked endless hours to make this event happen. We also want to thank those who helped with the crockpot luncheon for the staff. We appreciate all you do for our students and staff!

Read Over Winter Break
Please be sure your child is reading at least 20 minutes each night. Research shows that students who read more have higher achievement scores.  As a part of our school-wide reading incentive program for the year, the administrative team has agreed to get pies thrown in our faces if students meet their goal of 70,240 books! Oh my, this should be fun!  Turn off the TV and electronic games, snuggle up with a good book, and read, read, read!!!

We hope you have a safe, enjoyable time with family and friends over winter break! Happy holidays to all!

Box Tops Contest
Continue clipping Box Tops and sending them in. Our next contest will end on January 31st. The top class from K5-2nd and 3rd-5th grades will win a game with the administrative team in the gym. This should be lots of fun, so help your child’s class by sending in Box Tops!

Science Fair
The Bethel Science Fair will be here before we know it. Information sheets went home in Friday Folders for students in grades K5-4th. Participation is mandatory for our 5th grade students, so more information will be coming home after the winter break. If your child is interested in participating in the science fair, please send the bottom portion of the information letter to your child's teacher. Winter break is a wonderful time to begin thinking about science fair projects. We encourage students to participate. Projects are due Friday, February 22nd.

Next month’s Spirit Night will be held at Chick-fil-A January 7th from 5-8 pm. Drive-through and dine in orders will be tallied and Bethel will receive 20% of sales. Please be sure to mention Bethel when you are ordering. The class with the most participation will receive a special prize. Take the night off from cooking and come join us!

"Make Greenville Green" Contest Winners
Mrs. Shirley LaGarde from the Greenville Garden Club recently visited Barbara Key’s 5th grade class to announce the winner of the "Make Greenville Green" essay contest.  Anjali Patnam won a $25 check as the grand prize winner.  Bishop Hoag and Erin Dodds tied for second place.  Maxine Ostrander won third, and Skylar Antoniades and Tylon Duck received an honorable mentions. We are so proud of these Bethel students!

K5-1st Grade Registration
We will hold registration for kindergarten and new first grade students for the 2013-2014 school year on January 22nd-25th.  Parents can download the registration forms and information from our website or you may pick up a copy at our school.  Registrations should be hand delivered to the school during office hours – 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.  Parents need to provide the completed registration form, two proofs of residence (recent utility bill such as water and power), an immunization record, and a birth certificate (long form).  Early registration ensures that we have enough teachers in place to accommodate our students for the fall.  Please help us spread the word in the community!  Also, school tours are provided for those who are interested.  You may call the school office to schedule a tour.
