School Store
Bethel’s school store is open every Friday from 7:30-7:50 behind the front office. Students can purchase items such as pencils, erasers, snacks, etc… Science Fair boards are also available for $3.00 (limited quantities).

Science Fair
It is that time of year again! It is time for our science fair! This is a great opportunity for students to work through the scientific process and the inquiry skills needed in all areas of science. Your child’s classroom teacher will be talking with your students about this project. The due date for all projects is Friday, February 22, 2013. Our PTA is selling science fair boards in the school store on Fridays for $3.00. This is much cheaper than any store you will find, so help support our PTA! If you have any questions, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

BOX TOPS
Continue clipping those Box Tops and sending them in to school!! Our next contest will end on Jan. 31st. The top classes from K-2nd and 3rd-5th will win a game with the administrative team in the gym. It will be lots of fun, so keep on clipping to help your child's class win. Congratulations to Mrs. Hendrix’s first grade class for winning last month’s contest with 222 Box Tops! ***Tip: Make a container labeled "Box Tops" and give to grandparents, aunts, uncles or even take to work so that others can help you collect.

BETHEL BASH
It’s the favorite day of the year for the students at Bethel!!!! The annual carnival is May 17th and we can always use donations and help! Now is a wonderful time to be on the lookout for cans of colored hair spray. Do you have extras left over from Halloween? We will even take partially used cans. Also please be sure to send in your eggshells. Make sure they are empty and dry please. Be sure to put your teacher's name on the carton, and we will have a prize for the class that sends in the most. Don’t know how to do confetti eggs?? A DIY is soon to come!

2nd Quarter Report Cards
Report cards for second quarter will go home on January 24th. Please let your child’s teacher know if you need a conference. All students are encouraged to complete online Compass activities at home, and they should also read daily for at least 20 minutes. Thank you for supporting our efforts with student achievement!

K5-1st Grade Registration
We will hold registration for kindergarten and new first grade students for the 2013-2014 school year on January 22nd-25th.  Parents can download the registration forms and information from our website or you may pick up a copy at our school.  Registrations should be hand delivered to the school during office hours – 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.  Parents need to provide the completed registration form, two proofs of residence (recent utility bill such as water and power), an immunization record, and a birth certificate (long form).  Early registration ensures that we have enough teachers in place to accommodate our students for the fall.  Please help us spread the word in the community!  Also, school tours are provided for those who are interested.  You may call the school office to schedule a tour.

Father Daughter Dance
Parents mark your calendars now for February 1, 2013! Bethel will hold their Father/Daughter Dance from 6:30-8:30 in the cafeteria. It is truly a special night for the fathers and daughters alike. Look for flyers with more information in your child's Friday folders soon.

News From the Health Room
Flu season is upon us!  Encourage your child to use good hand washing, and remind them to cough into their elbow. Any medication that needs to be administered during school hours, including cough drops, must be brought into the health room by the parent.  Students may not remain at school with a fever over 100 degrees.  Please remember your child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school, and your child must be out of school 24 hours after vomiting.
